The Troublesome Creek Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution met on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at the Hindman Settlement School for their monthly meeting.
The members enjoyed a very impressive program presented by the Knott Chapter DAV 171 under the direction of Arthur Mullins, who serves as Commander of this chapter.
The emphasis of this meeting and program was proper handling of our nation’s flag and the symbols presented by the folding and presentation of the flag from funerals. June 14 being Flag Day, the group also heard a short presentation on the history and observation of this holiday in our nation.
In addition to several members of the DAV Chapter, a good number of the members of the DAR were present for this interesting program. A time of visiting and refreshments followed.
The members and officers of the DAR chapter encourage all women who are interested in becoming members to contact Gail Young or Anita Snyder. The next meeting is set for August 22, 5 p.m., at Hindman Settlement School. The meeting will feature a potluck picnic and historical workshop.
