It is sweet to see the Savior fellowship with His beloved people. There is nothing more delightful than being led by the divine spirit to this fertile field of happiness.
Consider the history of the redeemer’s love to you. A thousand enthralling acts of affection come to mind, and each act weaves your heart to Christ. Thoughts and emotions intertwine to secure your renewed soul to Jesus.
When we meditate on this amazing love and see our all-glorious Savior endowing His church with all His ancient wealth, our souls may well faint with joy. Who can endure this weight of love? Even a partial sense that the Holy Spirit gives is sometimes more than the soul can contain. How rapturous it would be to see it completely!
When our soul understands how to discern all the Savior’s gifts and has the wisdom to estimate them and the time to meditate on them, we will commune with Jesus in a far sweeter fellowship.
Who can imagine the pleasantness of this fellowship? It must be that “eye has not seen, or ear heard nor it has entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” (I Corinthians 2:9)
Oh to burst open the door of our Joseph’s graineries. (Genesis 41:49) and see the bounty He has stored for us! This will overwhem us with love.
By faith, we see as in a mirror dimly (I Corinthians 13:12) the reflected image of His boundless treasures. But when we actually see the Heavenly things with our own eyes, how deep will be the steam of fellowship where our souls will bathe. Until then our loudest sonnets will be reserved for our loving benefactor, Jesus Christ our Lord.
