A 49-year-old Perry County woman died as a result of an early morning collision in Hazard on Saturday, May 26.
According to a Kentucky State Police report, the crash happened at 1241 North Main Street in the city of Hazard at about 7:22 a.m. A Saturn passenger car was traveling south along North Main Street, and a Pontiac Grand-Prix driven by Diana L. Sexton was traveling north. The driver of the Saturn lost control and crossed into the path of the Pontiac Grand-Prix, resulting in a head-on collision.
Diana L. Sexton, age 49, of Hazard who was not wearing a seat belt, was transported to the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased by an emergency room physician.
The driver of the other vehicle, David Jones, was also transported to the Hazard ARH Hospital and was later flown to a Lexington trauma center. His condition is unknown.
Trooper Earl Whitaker is in charge of the investigation.
