A two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 80 in Knott County led to the arrest of a Pinetop man yesterday. Douglas Combs, 34, was traveling westbound toward Hazard in a silver, older model Mercedes. Combs was turning onto Montgomery Creek Rd. around 10 a.m. when he went into the path of a black Dodge Ram operated by Sherrell Shepherd, 54, of Garrett. No injuries were reported in the crash. Knott County Sheriff’s Department and Kentucky State Police responded. Combs was arrested and taken to the Kentucky River Regional Jail in Hazard with multiple charges. According to Chief Deputy Robby Slone, he was lodged on DUI 2nd offense, failure to produce an insurance card, possession of a controlled substance 3rd degree, license to be in possession, driving on DUI-suspended license, no registration receipt, and no insurance.
