Knott County had a comfortable lead for most of the game but were forced to hold off Buckhorn late in the 4th quarter to capture the Mountain Classic championship. Cameron Justice had an incredible night as he poured in 45 points to pace the Patriots. Zach Davis added 16, Seth Adams-6, and Evan Hall scored 2.
Evan Hall scored KCC’s first bucket and Cameron Justice followed with 5 straight points as Knott County took a 7-2 lead. Three pointers by Justice and Seth Adams pushed the Patriot lead to 13-5. Buckhorn scored the last 5 points of the quarter but Knott County held a 4 point lead at the end of the first. Knott County dominated the second quarter. Two free throws by Zach Davis started a 13-0 run by the Patriots that saw them leading 34-16 with 32 seconds left in the half. Knott County led 34-18 at the half.
Buckhorn slowly chipped away in the second half. Seth Adams stopped a Buckhorn run as he drilled a three pointer with just over 5 minutes left in the first half. Knott County led 53-37 at the end of the third quarter.
