Hello, readers! We sure hope that you’re having a great week, and the news for the week will brighten your day in some little way.
The basketball tournament was a huge success. I watched it on TV; there was a great turnout for all the games. Even though the weather was bad on Saturday night, long-time faithful supporters like Dr. Watts and Juanita Calhoun, Simeon and Cora Fields and Wilma Preece were there. Everyone looked great on TV, and looked as if they were having a great time. Jamie, Rachel, Michele, Tonya Delph and husband, along with their children. They showed the children on TV as being the next “fabulous five!” Our congratulations to Knott Central and the recipients of the scholarships.
Matt Thompson does a great job for Hazard. Another one of the Hazard players, Hunter Hardy, has connections to Knott County. His dad is Bart, son of Bob and Peggy Pigman Hardy, formerly of Hazard and now living in West Palm Beach, Fla. Peggy was a nurse for her father, Dr. A.B. Pigman. Her sister Nancy lives in Memphis and Sarah lives in Texas – all are former Knott Countians. Peggy said a lot of people named their children after her father – his name was Alger Bart.
